Almost every summer the University of Tennessee Education Department offers free private tutoring to 1st-6th grade students who are behind in math or reading. They have not officially set up the program for this summer, but they have already started the list of interested students. Past summers students met their tutors from 8:30-9:30 am from July 2nd– July 26th. Students are taught by teachers working towards their special education certificate. It may seem far away, but every year by the time Knox News does an article on it, all of the 25 spots have already filled up, or fill up that day. It is first come first serve, so if you know anyone who would benefit from this, have them call Michelle at the UT Klass Center at 865-974-6177.
